What is permaculture?
Most people come to permaculture through gardening, but it is a holistic planning system, not just for producing food, but for designing lifestyles, homes, communities, governance, organisations, economy - everything!
Permaculture is about thinking like nature. It is design integrated with ecology and draws on indigenous earth wisdom. A philosophy based on the ethics of Earth care, People care & Fair Share/Future Care.
By observing how nature works and imitating ecosystems, we can meet human needs in a way which regenerates instead of degrading nature.
In this class we explore how we can rewire our minds to think like nature.
How nature's wisdom can be applied our inner landscapes, organisations, activism, projects and relationships.
How we can design regenerative lifestyles, wellbeing and resilient, thriving communities!
About Jan & Jennifer
Jan Bang
I am passionate about teaching permaculture! I was born in Oslo and grew up in England, where I studied archaeology, philosophy, geography, education, and agriculture. I lived on a kibbutz in Israel for 16 years and represented ”Global Ecovillage Network” in Israel. I held the first Hebrew Permaculture Design Course and taught in many countries in the Middle East. In 2000 I moved with my family to work at Solborg Camphill Village outside Hønefoss. I am an active member of the Norwegian Permaculture Association and the ecovillage movement. I received my permaculture diploma in 2006 for my work in education and community development. I have written several books about permaculture and community.

I am an inspired permaculturist and love to facilitate forest garden design, regenerative leadership, earth connection practices and transforming ecological grief. I run my own permaculture business "Earth Mentor Me" as an educator, mentor and consultant. I took my PDC in 2015 and am taking my diploma in education. I hold permaculture teacher training certificate and have a 6 month education as a facilitator of «The Work that Reconnects». I worked as a composer and DJ before I discovered permaculture. I have been involved in activism and liberation work since teenage years and founded the Norwegian non-profit «Fruktdugnad». I weave permaculture into my roles as a mother, entrepreneur, elected council official and mini food forest.
