3. - 6. September
Dharma Mountain - Hedalen

Spiritual permaculture integrates ecological design with inner, ethical, and spiritual growth - with reverence for the land as the sacred, living Mother Earth.

It merges permaculture’s principles of thinking like nature  - with deep ecology - a shift from seeing ourselves as separate individuals, to recognising our belonging within the interconnected web of life.

A way to bring all of ourselves - mind, body, heart, and spirit - into the co-creation of a fair and regenerative world, through playing the unique part we are here to play.

Dates: Thursday 3. September 18.00 - Sunday 6. September 13.00

Place: Dharma Mountain, Hedalen

Facilitator: Jen McConachie

We begin with dinner on Thursday and close with lunch together on Sunday.

The retreat will be held in English and Norwegian.

What is spiritual permaculture?

Permaculture is nature´s wisdom in a system for designing regenerative lives and landscapes.
A proactive approach to ethical living - with humans as earth restorers, stewards and activists.

Grounded in the ethics of Earth care, People care and Fair share, permaculture invites us to cultivate more conscious and compassionate ways of living.

As a spiritual practice, permaculture offers more than just practical solutions for ecological challenges. It brings us into connection and dialogue with the living world - an empowering re-membering of interconnection.

It´s a path where we contribute to positive change in the world, whilst experiencing a transformative journey of purpose and personal growth.

Many of us feel deeply in response to what is happening in the world. Grief. Anger. Powerlessness. Exhaustion.

It can be hard to stay present without becoming overwhelmed - or to stay engaged without burning out.

This retreat explores how we stay open-hearted to the world, while also feeling resourced, grounded, and able to play our unique part.

We will use practices from The Work That Reconnects - an experiential approach to personal and social transformation, developed by Joanna Macy.

Reconnecting to ourselves as ecological beings - not just in our minds, but in our bodies. Honouring and transforming our pain for the world, into aliveness and joyous purpose.

“To be alive in this beautiful, self-organizing universe -
to participate in the dance of life with senses to perceive it, lungs that breathe it, organs that draw nourishment from it
- is a wonder beyond words.”
- Joanna Macy

Who is this for?

This is for you if you d
esire to deepen your spiritual path and get more clarity on your purpose; feel reconnected, more alive, grounded and resourced.

If you experience grief for the world, and want to feel more hope; love the Earth and all her creatures...o
r if you just feel called!

You are welcome whether you are already on a spiritual path, or simply curious to explore. You don´t need any previous experience with permaculture or meditation.

This retreat is experiential. We won’t be going deeply into theory or technical detail.

If you are new to permaculture, you will still be introduced to: key principles, ways of thinking like nature and simple, practical techniques through our time in the gardens and food forest.

The program will include:

  • Deep nature connection
  • Work That Reconnects practices
  • Mindful work in the food forest and permaculture gardens
  • Guided meditation and alone time
  • Circle, sharing and song
  • Yoga, dance and playful movement

We will spend as much time as possible outdoors in the beautiful Dharma Mountain surroundings. You can expect a nourishing weekend in a carefully held supportive group culture.

About Jennifer

I´m a permaculture teacher, facilitator, and feminine leadership coach, working at the intersection of earth wisdom and inner transformation.

Originally a DJ/composer, I´ve taught permaculture for over 10 years, including PDC´s, teacher trainings and forest garden design, and facilitated the Work That Reconnects. I’ve applied earth wisdom to everything from land-based projects to courses and personal and spiritual growth.

I create spaces and journeys for people to step into their unique role in the world through reconnecting to self, others,  nature and the web of life. I have been involved in liberation work and group facilitation since my teenage years.

My own life has been profoundly changed through both deep nature connection and Vipassana meditation. I experienced an awakening in my garden in 2012, after postnatal depression. I thought I was cultivating the garden, but discovered she was cultivating me!

Earth wisdom continues to guide my work, which always includes a lived relationship with nature, because this is where magic happens and where meaningful change becomes possible.
